ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Before moving in into a just purchased house clients decided to update it a bit and improve the layout. There was definitely missing a mudroom, powder room and laundry were accessible only through the kitchen which isn't the most convenient option. So we've knocked down walls of the coat room and two tiniest closets that were blocking powder room from the living room. And in that area we were able to create a bit of a mudroom space with some custom cabinetry with cubbies for shoes and closet space for hanging coats and also a little bench were you can sit down and put your shoes on or kids can drop their backpacks. In the kitchen with those closets out of the way we were able to rearrange kitchen layout and increase kitchen island. We also swapped powder room and laundry to have now powder room closer to the living room for the guests. Also we've added two built-in bench seating under the windows on both sides of the fireplace in the leaving room to create more storage underneath for the living room stuff like TV gadgets, board games and extra blankets. It also functions as extra seating when there's a really large gathering.
KITCHEN INTERIOR DESIGN
The overall aesthetic of this house renovation is a really modern farmhouse feel with a modern take on materials. Black steel framed windows and crisp white walls are balanced out by warm timber flooring, veneer kitchen cabinets and natural oak floating shelves and ceiling beams. Kitchen island with a blue cabinetry and marble-look engineered stone benchtop with waterfall edges is a statement piece in the room.
During an apartment or a house renovation there are areas like kitchen or bathroom that would really benefit from a professional eye so if you're not ready for the full house interior design definitely think about those most important rooms.
